politicalprof:
Because it’s not just Trump. It’s the whole damn lot of them:
–When Rome sacked Carthage in 146 BCE, they salted the earth and left the area so barren nothing could grow there for 1000 years.
–When the Mongols sacked Baghdad in 1258 CE, they slaughtered every inhabitant (a fate I am NOT endorsing) and destroyed irrigation canals that had made the desert bloom for thousands of years before the Mongols arrived. After the Mongols left, there weren’t enough people left in the area to rebuild those canals, and the land returned to desert. It was 800 years before the Fertile Crescent deserved anything like that name again.
–When, in 1864, Ulysses Grant ordered Phillip Sheridan to ride through the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia to destroy supplies so Confederate troops couldn’t use them during the Civil War, Sheridan told his forces that by the end of their campaign, the situation should be, “If a crow wants to fly down the Shenandoah, he must carry his provisions with him.”
The wipeout of the Trumpalot party has to be of a scale that the unborn children and grandchildren of Trump supporters will feel the defeat in their DNA.
